    My long term professional goal is to become a pediatrician because of my profound interest for science and desire to help children. A pediatrics career addresses both aspects of my life and will allow me to continue to learn throughout my life.

I have held the following positions throughout my life:

August 2007 - November 2007     Step Ahead/Smooth Transitions Mentor

• Assist individual freshmen make a successful adaptation to the academic and social challenges of Albion College.

• Met with my freshman once at least once a week to provide guidance and listen to their everyday life experiences.

July 2007 Sigma Chi Horizons Leadership Workshop Participant

• Spent an entire week in Snowbird City, Utah learning about and reflecting on my personality traits in order to interact more efficiently with others.

• Improved my leadership capabilities through a series of team building challenges and personal activities.

June 2007 - July 2007 Summer Medicine and Dentistry Education Program (SMDEP) Scholar

• Attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) for 6 weeks and took basic medical school classes such as anatomy, physiology (with cadaver lab), and biochemistry.

• Met admission board representatives to gain insight and advice for preparing myself for applying to medical school.

• Made several relationships with current UMDNJ medical school students to serve as mentors to my college career.

• Job shadowed Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Dr. Lisa Pompeo to observe her daily activities and knowledge of the health care community.

August 2006 - Present   First  Year Experience (FYE) Mentor

• Helped freshman adapt to the social and academic Albion College settings while improving my own communication and leadership skills.

• 2006-2007 Academic Year: Chaperoned a week long sociology project completed by my FYE class in Puerto Rico

• 2007-2008 Academic Year: Mentored the Arts and the Environment seminar taught by Dr. Bille Wicrke and Dr. Doug White

December 2006 - January 2007    Job Shadowing at Paint Creek Pediatrics

• Observed the daily activities of Dr. Herminia Bierema and Dr. Craig Mueller

• Enhanced my understanding of the business and social aspects of the career

• I worked daily with others towards completing the same tasks thus improving my teamwork skills.

May 2004- August 2006    Barista at Perky's Java and Juice in Lake Orion, Michigan

• I improved my team work skills through working with and serving a wide variety of people

• I further improved my time management skill by learning how to balance school, my job, and extra curricular activities

• I also trained new employees which allowed me to improve my teaching skills.

• I learned how to friendly approach a wide range of people in order to increase sales.

• Working with such a wide variety of people taught me to tolerate and work well with diversity.
